Located on Wisconsin's Madeline Island, the 21 Steps Home is a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home featuring an open living space, library, TV room, art studio and sauna.  The site was originally home to a small vacation cabin that was built before setbacks were in place, resulting in it being too close to the lake and therefore could not be expanded upon.  In order to get a home that met their needs, the clients chose to relocate the existing cabin to a new location on the site, making way for a new home that would be built the appropriate distance from the lake shore and that would have everything the owners need as they make this their permanent .

The new home features a large open living space with floor to ceiling windows on the lake side.  The space is large enough to entertain but still feels cozy and inviting, no matter how many people are there.  The primary bedroom suite, also located on the main floor of the home to accommodate mobility as the owners grow older, is located such that it includes lake views while also feeling tucked into the woods.  The bedroom suite also features a large walk-in closet and spacious, light-filled bathroom with a his & his vanity and shower heads in the large tile & glass shower.  The main floor also includes access to the garage, a large mud room, and a home library/office.  When you want to enjoy the beautiful northern Wisconsin summer days, there is an elevated deck off the kitchen and an enclosed sun room off the living room.  Both provide views of the lake and are a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sounds of the waves on the shore below.

The lower level of the home includes a large TV and exercise space, an art studio with floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the lake, 2 guest bedrooms, a guest bathroom, and the storage and mechanical space.  At the end of a storage cabinet lined hallway is a sauna.  The sauna features a tiled shower, and space for 4+ people to sweat out some toxins while also able to look out toward the lake.
