Bayfield County Courthouse

Washburn, WI

After 115 years, the Bayfield County Courthouse was starting to show its age.  Like many civic buildings in the area, the original structure is clad in locally sourced brownstone which had begun to erode and needed to be replaced.  The restoration required removing sections of stone, carving new pieces to match the original design and replacing the removed sections, all without compromising the structure while doing so.  The entire building was tuckpointed and the monumental stairs replaced.  Separately, the dome was restored as well.  The building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will now look its best while serving the county for the next 115 years.
